MAASTRICHT - Maastricht University School of Business and Economics (THE NETHERLANDS)

8 students x 5 months;
Language requirements: English B2 (*)

Application deadlines: I semester: May, 1st - II semester: October, 1st

(*) Language requirements: pay attention!

Since the working language at our School is English and all courses are taught in English, all exchange students are required to have an advanced level of the English language - comparable to the level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference - to be able to successfully complete their courses. SBE does not require any proof of an English language test score, but do make sure your English is up to par when you start your exchange.
Please note that if the goal of your exchange at SBE is to improve your English, this is not the right place to come to. Our educational system - Problem Based Learning or PBL - requires you to actively take part in the tutorial meetings as we call them. The PBL method is explicitly student-centred rather than teacher-centred, and the students are expected to take the initiative. Speaking up and actively taking part in discussions is a crucial part of the system and this will also influence your final grades. Therefore it is extremely important that you have an excellent knowledge of both written and spoken

Non-EU STUDENTS

VERY IMPORTANT:
The English language requirements may differ for non-EU students who require a visa. Please note that if you are of a non-EU/EEA nationality you will need to provide evidence of your English Language proficiency for immigration purposes. It is a good idea to begin organizing your English language test earlier.
As soon as your students have completed the online application, we will forward their details to the Maastricht University Visa Office (if applicable).  The visa application will be initiated by the Visa Office. Your students will hear from the Visa Office not earlier than late May. To start the visa procedure, your students will be asked to submit certain documents. It is very important that your students react immediately upon request of the Visa Office and provide them with the necessary documents otherwise they risk a delay in their visa application. This may result in not receiving their visa in time in order to travel to The Netherlands for the start of their semester. Please note that we do not tolerate late arrivals since all our courses require a 100% attendance.

The Visa Office will contact your students in due time, but if your students have not heard from the Visa Office three months before the start of their exchange semester, tell them to inform us via iro-incoming-sbe@maastrichtuniversity.nl. On the webpage of the Visa Office, your students will be able to check if they are required to apply for a visa.  Students who have the Chinese nationality (from People’s Republic of China) are not only required to apply for an entry visa but also for a so-called Nuffic certificate: à Practical Matters à Visas and permits à Nuffic Certificate for Chinese students à Application procedure. Even if a student is currently living outside China, he/she will have to get a Nuffic Certificate to be eligible for a Dutch entry visa. The Nuffic Certificate does not apply to Hong Kong (SAR), Macau (SAR) and Taiwan (ROC) nationals.

Please do not apply for a short-stay or tourist visa. If you do so anyway, Dutch Immigration Laws will force us to deregister you as SBE student, which means you will not be allowed to follow courses.
