Aureli Francesco

Director of the Center for Migration of the Ortigia Busines School and President of the International Observatory on Health

Francesco Aureli is currently based between Rome and Siracusa, where he works as the director of the Center for Migration of the Ortigia Busines School and as the president of the International Observatory on Health, an Italian NGO dealing with the health and well-being of migrants in Europe. He is a former senior consultant to the Office of the Italian Prime Minister for international development, migration and global health under the 2017 Italian Presidency of the G7 Summit.

Previously, he served as Save the Children’s Representative to the International Institutions at the global level between Rome, Geneva and New York, and prior to this appointment he worked in New York as Save the Children’s Representative to the United Nations.

Beforehand Mr. Aureli worked for several years in Developing Countries, with different UN Agencies and other Intl Organisations, mainly dealing with emergency interventions, human rights, primary health care, and training programs in Africa, Asia, Former Yugoslavia and Centre America.

He was Director General of the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) in Italy, and for the past few years he has also been widely involved with the work of the World Health Organisation and of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH), and moreover under his role with PMNCH he served as a member of the Health Experts' Group of the G8 Governments.

He holds a degree in law, and he is a member of several board of directors of international organisations.
