The PhD Programme offers students the chance to undertake high-profile research on the Theory of Contracts, Services and Markets, gaining a wide and top level knowledge on these topics. 

The PhD programme is based on:

  • an international approach to legal research, supported by agreements with prestigious Universities for joint supervision and the participation to the PhD Faculty panel of renowned researchers from Brasil, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, UK;
  • a dynamic and comprehensive view on legal issues, both practical and theoretical;
  • an interdisciplinary approach, through lectures, seminars and workshops on cross cutting issues and by encouraging cross sector research;
  • a focus on current legal issues and hot topics.

Within the School of Economics, the Department in Management and Law welcomes doctoral projects in:

  • Administrative Law,
  • Civil Law,
  • Commercial Law,
  • Economic Law,
  • EU Law,
  • Labor Law,
  • Public Law,
  • Tax Law,

favouring advanced research between Law and Economics.

The large range of subjects and perspectives prepares our students for placement in private companies, public institutions and academia.

PhD students will have to analyze theorical matters about Contracts, Services and Markets with a legal and economic perspective, both from a private and a public viewpoint, in order to understand the institutional and legal context of reference, with particular regard to economic theory of contracts and regulation of the enterprise, services and markets, with focus on public policies, taxation and governance.

The PhD students will have to attend seminars and lecture cycles during the three years. Physical presence is required, except for research periods abroad.

Students will be required to carry out interdisciplinary teaching activities in collaboration with other PhD programs in the School of Economics; they will be invited to attend language courses organized by the University; they also can take advantage of the IT courses organized by the School of Economics. 

Starting from the second year of the PhD program, a tutor among the PhD Board members will be appointed for each PhD student, with the role of following the preparation of the final thesis.

Students will be encouraged to conduct research abroad, participate in group research, as well as Call for Papers for national and international conferences. Doctoral research will be continuously monitored by encouraging the presentation of research papers from the PhD students to seminars, conferences and workshops and publication in specialized legal Journals.

The most valuable PhD students are invited to participate actively in research projects of international and national relevance promoted by the teachers of the College.

The PhD is awarded upon successful completion of a three full-time years course of studies and the defense, in front of a Commission, of a PhD dissertation on one of the PhD topics.
