Sharing Economy (3 CFU)

The objective of "Sharing Economy", course by Prof. Luigi Corvo, is to discover with the students the potential of sharing economy and its implication on the societal evolution. This extra activity is worth 3 CFU.

Sharing Economy and the New Capitalism

Our economic system is changing day by day and the frameworks and the tools that we use for interpreting the world risk to unfit.
The objective of this course is to discover with the students the potential of sharing economy and its implication on the societal evolution.
We will meet the contemporary debate about the disruptive revolution of the digital platforms  and we will carry out coworking sessions in order to practice new value chains and new metrics of shared value generation, evaluation and distribution.

The course will involve primary Institutions and Corporations with a significant effort in the sharing economy field.

Course structure

The course is composed by 6 workshops:

1) What is the New Capitalism?
a. The new economies and the big challenges of the society (postcapitalism)
b. Digital revolution and the platform economy (link)
c. The framework of the new economies (link)

2)  Sharing economy: from practice to theory
a. The experience of OuiShare
b. Coworking session: is the sharing economy inclusive? The case of AirBnB

3) The crucial role of the Social Impact
a. What is the social impact?
b. How is social impact measurable?
c. Coworking session: let’s measure the social impact

4) The possible use of the Social Impact
a. How is social impact valuable?
b. Which are the use of the impact information?
c. Coworking session: let’s use the information on social impact

5) Is the sharing economy sustainable?
a. Coworking session: the role of the sharing economy platforms in times of crisis
b. Preparation of the key issues for the final roundtable

6) Roundtable: is the sharing economy a locust or a bee? A predator or a creator?

Terms of Attendence

The minimum of workshops to be attended in order to be evaluated is of 4 on 6.

Evaluation

The evaluation will take into account:

- The attendance to the workshops
- The participation to the co-working sessions
- The final presentation of the results of the co-working sessions.
