Course on “External Audit and its grounds” - 2° module

The aim is to give students the opportunity to experience a simulation of an external audit of a commercial company and help it to apply the knowledge cumulated during the Audit Course to a real-life scenario.

 

Seminar on “External Audit and  its grounds”

In collaboration with Prof. Sandro Brunelli, Alberto Meriggio, Santino Consorti and Elizabeth Adant from Deloitte present a new extra-activity course focused on External Audit and its grounds.

External Audit and its grounds starts on May 8th 2019.

The course is open to all business administration students with a preferred lane for students belonging to the Control and Auditing specialization and for those who are, among all specialization, in the 2nd year enrollment. There are 40 places available. The course will start with 10 subscriptions at least. The course is completely free for students from Faculty of Economics, for external participants there is a fee.

Objectives of the extra activity

Scope of the course
The aim is to give students the opportunity to experience a simulation of an external audit of a commercial company and help them to apply the knowledge cumulated during the Audit Course to a real-life scenario.
Students will have the chance

  • to see how the requirements of the ISAs are implemented in the day to day work of an external auditor,
  • to get the full picture of how an external audit is planned and executed and
  • to work in team in building an audit file that will hopefully lead to an unqualified audit report on the financial statements.

Program structure

The workshop organized in a 3 full-days meetings (8 hours) detailed as follow:

May 10th 2019 09:00 - 18:00 TL Practical application, Deloitte presentation and final test

The students will work in teams. They will be assigned a case study describing a scenario and including the financial statements to be submitted to the external auditor.

The teams
- will gain basic knowledge of the principle ISAs and the overall audit process
- will go through the necessary audit procedures to get an assurance over the material account balances, classes of transactions and disclosures,
- will evaluate the result of the tests carried out and
- will conclude and on the findings and evaluate their impact on the audit report.

Takeaways
A wrap up session at the end of the workshop will highlight and emphasise the link between the procedure performed and the content discussed by the Professor in charge of the course during the lectures delivered before the simulation.

Participation

The course has a duration of 24 hours distributed over 3 lessons of 8 hours.

Attendance to the course is compulsory (at least 80% of lessons). The assignment of the 3 CFU credits .

Students interested in participating to the course are required to complete the form. Participation to this event will grant 3 Credits for extra activities to participants.

Interested participants from other faculties and practitioners
