The European House - Ambrosetti is an Italian management-consulting boutique founded in 1965. Since then the firm has developed services, tools and innovative methods suited to companies of all sizes, geographical area and business sector, in three different areas of activity: Management Consulting; Professional Updating Services; Workshops and Forums.

In order to develop the insights, theories and tools to shape the future of innovation thinking and action, we have been partnering with top-ranking universities around the world and we are glad to inaugurate a new collaboration with MScBA at Tor Vergata University.

A scientific panel (TEH-Ambrosetti consultants and Tor Vergata faculty members) will select a group of students who will investigate three different perspectives revolving around innovation management dynamics

To enter you must submit:
2000/2500 words outline of your dissertation (in English, no graphics/illustrations, includes references and reference list. Use structured headings: Motivation, Structure and Methods, Theoretical implications, Practical implications)

How to partecipate

Those who are interested in writing their thesis in Management Consulting should email professor Corrado Cerruti (corrado.cerruti[at]uniroma2.it) their proposal by February 10th 12 am (read below for further details). Professor Cerruti will also be available to informally revise the proposals before their official submission to the company).

This is going to be a very competitive call with students from all over Italy - Bocconi and PoliMI included - therefore any proposal has to be well designed and well supported.

The selection criteria applied are:

Impact (40%)
Will the proposed approach/focus potentially influence a significant area of future innovation practice or/and innovation research?

Innovativeness (30%)
How innovative is the choice and framing of the dissertation focus? How innovative is the methodological approach?

Scientific Rigour (30%)
Is the focus of the dissertation rigorous? Is the methodology employed rigorous?

Proposals must be handed in by February 10th at 12am.

Research perspectives

1. Google and (un)comparable
Compare the successful Google organizational model with an innovative Italian company. What are the main differences between those two entities? What are the most evident pros and cons of two different innovation models? Where is Google different when it comes to organizational solutions at a both macro (divisions, functions, international strategy, chief cultural officer…) and micro (competences model, people management, team working, performance management…)

2. Innovation measurement (To Get Real Results)
An overview on the most popular (or not yet) innovation measurement tools/metrics adopted to assess the return on investment either from a financial or an organizational angle (according to some academic evidences, more than 70% of corporate leaders tout innovation as a top three business priority, but only 22% set innovation performance metrics). Are innovation measurement metrics reliable KPI’s? Will this approach still make sense in the near future? What is the influence of these metrics on the Innovation Management strategies (e.g. business cases), organizational dynamics and decision-making processes?

3. Cultural Impact
Is it possible to conceive a reliable model to measure and assess whether a corporate culture is innovative or not? If so, what’s kind of culture is necessary to determine an innovative organizational environment? Why and how does culture have an influence on the inclination to be innovative?

A selected team of innovation consultants at The European House – Ambrosetti (consultants are based in Milan & London and on this occasion we will also engaged a local partner in Tel Aviv and San Francisco) together with the dissertation supervisor, will advise and guide the students over the research project.
