HEGARTY

Hi my name is Claire, I'm 24 years old and I'm from London. I graduated in the U.K in 2010 with a degree in International Business and German from Aston University. I have always been interested in development issues but it wasn't until moving to the generally warm-hearted but sometimes misunderstood city of Naples, Italy where I worked as an English teacher for almost 2 years, that I really started to develop more of an understanding of some of the primary causes of inequality and the actual economical, social and political issues that are facing parts of our world today. My experiences there really made me question how a city in Western Europe could be so different to others that I had seen and it was in searching for some of those answers that my interest in the subject of development became stronger. Through the MESCI I hope to expand my knowledge on these worldwide issues, gaining a global perspective and in doing so become an important mechanism in finding the solutions and creating positive change.
