Presentation at Conferences

PhD FORUMS

PhD students of the program are required to show evidence of progress by presenting their work once a year in the PhD Forum. This Forum offers students the opportunity to receive comments and constructive criticism from the faculty and their peer. Each meeting consists of presentations by PhD students of each cycle. Students are required to make their first presentation at the end of the first year. This first presentation is intended to illustrate the research question addressed in the first essay of their PhD thesis, provide a critical review of the literature, and present at least some preliminary results. In general, a student may expect to make similar presentations for the other essays of the thesis in the following years.

In year 2024 the PhD Forum are scheduled as follows:
- 3rd year PhD Forum: May 21st;
- 1st and 2nd year PhD Forum: October 1st.

Since year 2022, in September a joint PhD conference is organized with the PhD in Economics and Finance of LUISS and EIEF.

LUISS hosted the first edition on September 9 2022, Tor Vergata University of Rome hosted the second edition on September 15, 2023, and EIEF will host the thirs edition in September 2024.

The conference program will consist of a keynote lecture (in 2023 was Marco Ottaviani, the PhD in Economics Director at Bocconi University), plus two sets of parallel sessions: the first one for senior PhD students (3rd year or more) in the morning, and the second one for junior PhD students (1st and 2nd year) in the afternoon.

The junior PhD students will get 20 minutes to present whereas the senior PhD students will get 30 minutes to present along with a discussion by a senior researcher.

Usually, at the end of the conference, a welcome event for the incoming cohort to the PhD programs has been planned.
