Francesco Columba
is in the Direction of the Financial Stability Dept. of the Banca d’Italia. His work focuses on macroprudential policies and financial sector issues; he has also worked on monetary and macroeconomic policies. He is macroprudential advisor to the IMF, currently working on assignment to Slovenia and Sweden. He is member of the Financial Stability Board peer review team for India. He spent 5 years at the IMF (2009-2014) as a senior economist in the European, Western Hemisphere and Monetary and Capital Markets Depts. where he worked on macroeconomic policies with a focus on financial sector issues, including on the Sweden and the US desks. He participated in Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP) missions for Mexico and the US, AIV missions for Canada and the US. Prior to joining the IMF he spent 11 years at the Banca d’Italia, lastly as co-manager of the Money and Credit Unit of the Research Dept..
