Jun kim
is currently an advisor at the research department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Before joining the Fund in 2002, he taught economics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, as an assistant professor, was a senior research fellow at the Korea Development Institute (KDI), and worked for the Korean government as a senior counselor to the Finance Minister during 1997-99. Dr. Kim also served as a deputy governor and the chief economist of the Bank of Korea during 2011-14 where he supervised major departments that report to the Monetary Policy Committee—research, monetary Policy, market, and international departments. He received his Ph.D. in economics at Brown University.
