Risk culture, integrity in behavior and financial decisions

Purposes
The course covers the culture of risk in the financial system and integrity in organizational and individual behavior in the perspective of financial decisions.
In particular, it aims to examine the concept of risk in financial decisions and in financial intermediation activities; the methods of governing the culture of risk within banking organizations, also taking into account the point of view of the regulatory and supervisory authorities; the implications of risk culture on the integrity of banks, on organizational and individual behavior and on customer relations.
The course includes lessons, case preparation and discussion, experiential workshops, testimonials and in-depth seminars. The cases examined during the course may be the basis for the assignment of thesis.

  • The culture of risk in the financial system. An overview
  • Risk and integrity in financial decisions. A question of points of view
  • The media and the culture of risk. How cinema and TV, literature, social networks see it
  • The internal control system: formal and substantial compliance. Case discussion
  • Regulation and supervision of the financial system and risk culture
     

Learning Objectives of the Course
Know the nature, manifestations and effects of the risks of financial decisions in the perspective of all the stakeholders of the financial system
Ability to identify and distinguish the different risk cultures that are typical of the main contexts and business models of banks
Ability to use the acquired knowledge to measure the risk culture in the bank and design effective governance methods within the organization
Ability to discuss the ethical and integrity profiles of organizations and people behaviors from a risk perspective
Ability to integrate the knowledge acquired in the analysis of cases in a complex real context, formulating judgments based on the information available
Knowing how to communicate clearly the conclusions reached in the analysis of case studies
