ENGLISH LANGUAGE SUPPORT

We launched a new module in 2025-26 called: 5BUS2083 English Language and Intercultural Communications (15 UH credits).

It runs for 1 semester (in both semesters) and your students will be able to add the module on the list of courses selected to study at UH. This module includes units on undertaking a ‘local adventure’, sampling traditional British food, playing board games and watching quizzes to see how they reflect national values and how music and films portray multiple aspects of British culture.

The module is very interactive with lots of opportunities for speaking English through paired discussion, interviewing an English student, class debates and practising new idioms. Students who studied the module last semester say it helped them to settle into the UK and to understand the diversity of different cultures particular to the London area.

We also have started a Social English Chat Group Café in the deHavillad enterprise café with free coffee. This group aims to increase belonging for study abroad and exchange students, allowing them to meet with Home students in a low-pressure (but scaffolded) social conversation situation.
