PRE-REQUISITES FOR THE COURSE
Students are expected to have a good understanding of the basic Business Administration disciplines such as Marketing, Managerial Accounting, Financial Accounting, Operation Management and Finance.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES AND MAIN TOPICS
The aim of this course is to give students a well-founded overview of the preparatory stages of a Business Creation and Management from a theoretical as well as practical perspective. The different aspects of this topic will be systematically developed with focus on the ideal way of such a creation process. Throughout this course, you will get an original and critical view of all aspects of your business concept development and how to realize a successful business plan for potential investors. You are required to identify a potential business idea and by working in teams develop a business plan. High quality students’ interaction, discussion and team work are fundamental characteristics of this course.
The main learning objectives are to:
• Understand the core elements of Business Creation and Planning
• Develop a Critical and Creative Business thinking approach
• Develop and assess a business model in team
• Develop professionally a Business Plan
• Pitch their Business Idea through a professional Elevator Pitch

WRITTEN EXAM AND FINAL BUSINESS PLAN
Students are expected during the pre-exam on the 28.10.2016 (at X am, Room X) to answer to four open questions which will be evaluated and will count for 40% of the final grade. Students are also expected to write in teams (max 5 Students per team) a comprehensive Business Plan which will be evaluated and will count for 60% of the final grade (the deadline to handle in the final Business Plan is the 19th of December 2016).
ATTENDANCE
Class participation and attendance are very important. Students missing more than 6 hours are required to prepare an additional written examination based on the main textbook.
ASSESSMENT
The final grade consists of two parts:
• Part I: Written Exam (pre-exam on the 28.10.2016) which is 40% of the final grade
• Part II: Final Written Business Plan which is 60% of the final grade (the deadline to handle in the final Business Plan is the 19th of December 2016, to be sent via e-mail to andrea.calabro@uni-wh.de)
