Learning Objectives

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
The Lab allows students to acquire knowledge and practical skills regarding approaches to management consulting in the areas of sustainability and digital transformation, with particular reference to support for public interest services and policies. This extra activity is structured in partnership with Accenture Italia, enabling students to experience firsthand the working style and relationship dynamics in one of the leading companies in the sector.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Students learn about the evolution of the consulting market, relationship management, and trends related to technologies in use (e.g., AI and GenAI).

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: The primary goal of the Lab is to allow students to experience firsthand how the consulting profession can play a role in the value creation processes of organizations and how digital tools can be utilized for this purpose.

MAKING JUDGEMENTS: Students are organized into working groups that autonomously, with the supervision of teachers and tutors provided by Accenture, organize the lab work and define the interaction methods and expected outputs.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Students learn to work in teams, interact with business representatives, and present their innovation ideas and implementation strategies in a final pitch.

LEARNING SKILLS: Within the Lab, students become familiar with the latest trends in innovative AI and GenAI tools for management consulting and can continue to use and explore them independently after the end of the initiative.

Program

The 9th edition of the Lab will focus on the evolving Artificial Intelligence tools landscape and how they can shape value creation processes in practice.
LAB activities will feature the direct interaction between students (in working groups) and Accenture tutors, and will be focused on the practical application of AI and GenAI tools on business processes and actionable use cases. This will allow participating students to understand the different capabilities of AI applications and evaluate their potential in various organizational scenarios, allowing for autonomous learning after the end of the LAB.

Course programme
1. April 10 2025, 5 pm Room P1: Open Presentation of the objectives of the LAB and of Accenture as a leading professional services company, with capabilities in strategy, consulting, digital, technology and operations. All participants will receive a 'welcome kit' lesson dedicated to the AI topic.
2. April 14 2025: deadline for students to send in their candidatures to participate in the LAB;
3. April 17 2025 (tbc): successful candidates are contacted and involved in a kick-off meeting to share with participants the consulting themes and activities to be carried out within the LAB, under the supervision of selected Accenture consultants.
4. Weekly calls to share consulting guidelines and check the progress of deliverables for each activity.
5. Mid June 2025 (TBC): Final meeting to present and discuss the results of each LAB activity (at Accenture offices in Rome).

Teaching methods

The course is based on a problem-based learning approach. About 50% of the course will be delivered through synchronous or asynchronous online lectures. The remainder of class hours will be devoted, through the Moodle course platform, to flipped classroom laboratories, online forums and case studies analyses, and peer interaction in which concepts presented during lectures are applied through real life scenario applications, in which the interaction among students and with the lecturer is essential. Testimonies by key sustainability actors from the business, government and third sector contexts will also be involved.

Teaching methods

The lab includes an introductory lesson, a kickoff meeting where the work topics to be addressed in the lab are proposed, and a final plenary meeting. The remaining part of the activities is hands-on, with each work team organizing independently under the supervision of the instructor and the Accenture staff.

Exam Rules

At the end of the Lab, each team will present its project idea which will be discussed and assessed by a panel composed of Tor Vergata faculty and Accenture executives. The panel will select and award the best proposal. The final meeting is normally held at Accenture offices in Rome.
