Visiting Professors From Adelaide University

Once again Tor Vergata University will be hosting international professors and lecturers to enrich the courses schedule  offered by the Master of Science in Business Administration. Australians Dr. George Shan and Mr. Will Mackay, both from University of Adelaide, will be sharing classes with Prof. Chirico, Dr Flaviano Bruno, Dr Andrea Bellisario and Dr Andrea Corrado and offer lectures and case studies in 3 of the 6 sections of our Managerial Accounting course, starting September 22nd and ending December 15th.

Dr. George Shan is the Program Director for Honours and Master of Business Research and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Adelaide Business School. He is the lecturer-in-charge of Management Accounting (M) for postgraduates and Corporate Governance and Accountability III for undergraduates. Dr Shan will be lecturing students in 4 classes divided between Section IV and V, together with Prof. Chirico and Dr Bruno:

  • CASE STUDY: "Flexible Budgets and Performance Analysis" (November 10th)
  • LECTURE: "Responsibility Accounting and Decentralization" (November 17th)
  • LECTURE: "Transfer Pricing and Service Department Charged" (November 18th)
  • LECTURE: "Evaluating Investment Center Performance" (November 19th)

Mr. Will Mackay is currently a PhD candidate and lecturer at the Adelaide Business School. He was previously  Accountant at Ernst & Young, Commercial Manager at RICOH Australia, and National Network Consultant at CANON Australia. Mr. Mackay will offer two case studies and two lectures, all of which will be parto of the final section of this course, Section VI:

  • LECTURE: "Capital Budgeting and Planning Investment: basic concepts" (December 1st)
  • LECTURE: "Other approaches to capital budgeting decisions" (December 9th)
  • CASE STUDY: "Capital Budgeting and Planning Investment" (December 10th)
  • CASE STUDY: "Capital Budgeting and Planning Investment" (December 15th)

The Managerial Accounting course is divided in six sections, Concepts and Fundamentals of Management Accounting (I), Cost Accounting System and Cost Analysis (II), Relevant Costs for Decision Making (III), Budgeting Process for Planning Function (IV), Segment Reporting, Decentralization and the Balanced Scorecard (V) and Capital Budgeting Decisions (VI).
