Why have an Italian bank account
Whether you are paying your fees or rent, or receiving some money from home, you are going to need a bank account. It may be that you already have a bank account that can be used in Italy, but in most cases opening an account will be one of the first things you will need to do when arriving in Italy.

Opening a bank account at Unicredit Bank is free of charge, with no monthly service, for students under 30.
How to open up a bank account
You will need to contact the office to fix an appointment with the bank, and then you will need to bring the following documents when opening the bank account:
- Passport
- “Codice Fiscale” (Fiscal Code)
- Residence permit or receipt confirming the permit request
- Italian telephone number
