Simone Pierluigi

University of Rome Tor Vergata

Pierluigi Simone is an Assistant Professor of International Law at the Department of Law, University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and a lawyer (admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Cassation and other higher Courts). He also holds a chair of EU Law in the Department of Economics, University of Naples “Parthenope”.
His areas of scientific interest relate in particular to the field of police cooperation and criminal justice. He is author of a book about the protection of minorities in international law and of a monograph about the police cooperation in Europe and the role of Europol. He wrote about 60 essays in Public international law, Private international law and EU law.
He served as a counsel in the Legal Service of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1995 to 2003.
He has held lectures about International and EU Law in several courses that have taken place for the Academies of the Guardia di Finanza and Carabinieri, for Public Administration Schools, and organized by public bodies and private institutions.
He was also Professor in EU Law in the Faculty of Law, Çukurova University of Adana (Turkey). Member of the Board of Editors of “Diritto e giurisprudenza agraria e dell'ambiente” and “Rivista del diritto della navigazione”. Member of the Società Italiana di Diritto Internazionale (SIDI), the European Centre for Space Law (ECSL), the Società Italiana per l’Organizzazione Internazionale (SIOI), the European Society of International Law (ESIL), and the International Law Association (ILA), Italian Branch. He participated in several researches with a grant from the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) and the Italian Ministry for Instruction, University and Research. He is responsible of researches granted by the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. He spent time for studying at UNESCO and ICOMOS in Paris, the Max-Planck Institut in Hamburg, the Court of Justice and the Court of First Instance of the European Union in Luxembourg, and the European Commission in Bruxelles.
