Morganti Marco

CEO - Banca Prossima

Marco Morganti was born in Macerata in 1959. He obtained a degree in Renaissance Philology at the University of Florence in 1983.
The first professional experiences are related to some of the core activities of Florence: tourism, arts, culture. He was Partner of a research company studying the economy of tourism (under the direction of Mr. Piero Barucci), Secretary General of the Centro di Studi Turistici in Florence, Head of Relations and Communication at the Florence International Biennal Antiques Fair; in 1985 joined the Giunti Publishing Group, where he had been worked for 7 years as Publisher Assistant.
During the next three years he is Secretary General of the Group and CEO of the consultancy and development company Giunti Consulting.
In 2000 he was called to join Poste Italiane Group to manage cultural and social projects.
In 2003 he followed Mr. Corrado Passera and joined Banca Intesa, supervising the development of the first social projects focused on credit inclusion (student’s loans, kindergarten start-ups, usury prevention, microcredit to immigrants and unemployed people) as Head of a unique organisation in the Italian landscape: the Laboratorio Banca e Società.
In June 2006, he started the design of a new bank entirely dedicated to the social economy. Banca Prossima started operating on the 5th of November 2007 with Marco Morganti in the role of CEO. The most innovative element of the Bank is the Fund for Development and Social Enterprise, financed with at least 50% of the annual profits and operating as a guarantee fund on high risk clients demanding credit.
Since 2018 he is also Head of the Impact Direction of Intesa Sanpaolo Group, inspired from the previous experience and based on a new large Fund that operates with the same principles of the one of Banca Prossima.
Among other roles, he was Board Member of the GECES (Gruppo di Esperti della Commissione Europea sull’Imprenditoria Sociale) and Lombarda Antiusura Foundation. He is currently a member of FITS! (Fondazione per l’innovazione del Terzo Settore), Pier Lombardo Foundation, and IUSS. He is also Member of the Scientific Committee of Centro Studi Ambrosoli and “Buone Notizie” - Corriere della Sera.
