Program structure
MSC ECONOMICS STUDY PLAN AND TRACKS COHORT 2025/2026
The program starts at the beginning of September and lasts two years. Each of the two academic years is divided into two semesters, and each semester is divided into two modules. Each module involves six weeks of teaching, with exams taking place at the end of each module.

Students must take 6 elective courses, for a total of 36 credits. Electives can be taken starting from the second semester of the 1st year. The degree program proposes the following areas of expertise or tracks (these are merely suggestions to help orient students and are not formally recognized in Delphi):
DATA SCIENCE AND ECONOMETRICS TRACK
Students choose three courses from:
- Big Data Analysis from Economics and Finance (autumn semester, second module)
- Microeconometrics (spring semester, first module)
- Advanced Topics in Time Series (spring semester, second module)
Students choose one course from:
- Causal Inference (autumn semester, second module)
- Financial Econometrics (spring semester, second module)
Students choose two courses from all others available.
ECONOMICS AND SOCIAL PROCESSES TRACK
Students choose three courses from:
- Public Economics (autumn semester, first module)
- Strategic Pricing and Contracts (autumn semester, second module)
- International Economics (spring semester, first module)
Students choose three courses from all others available.
APPLIED ECONOMICS AND POLICY TRACK
Students choose two courses from:
- Public Economics (autumn semester, first module)
- Health Economics and Policy (autumn semester, first module)
- Causal Inference (autumn semester, second module)
- Labour Economics (spring semester, first module)
Students choose two courses from:
- Microeconometrics (spring semester, first module)
- Research Methods for Economics and Policy (spring semester, second module)
Students choose two additional elective courses from all others available.
STUDY PLAN
Students enrolling in MSc Economics for the first time in the 2025/2026 academic year should use the form below to communicate their chosen study plan, which must be submitted by 30 November 2025 to msc_economics@economia.uniroma2.it.
Students may use the above-proposed tracks to prepare their study plan proposal. However, students may also choose from other courses offered in English, which are taught at Tor Vergata at the Master of Science level.
Please note that the study plan is subject to formal approval by the MSc Economics Academic Board. Any successive changes must also be submitted for formal approval.
Study Plan Form
CURRICULAR INTERNSHIP
You may substitute one elective course with a curricular internship, i.e. you earn the same credits: 6 credits for 150 hours (3 months) of internship activity. There are two possible types of internship:
- Internship Private Sector & National/International Institutions
- Research Assistant Internship
The internship may be chosen only once during enrollment in MSc Economics and may be activated at any time of the year.
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
The following activities are organized to strengthen students' academic and professional competencies over the course of their two years of studies. While we encourage students to take part in these activities, no credits will be earned for the participation.
