Competition policy contributing to the EU Green Deal
On 4 February, 2020 the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission will host an on-line conference and Student Challenge.
The conference will discuss how EU competition policy and enforcement can best support the European Green Deal in four panels:
- Our political ambition: What do we want to achieve?
- Innovation, green growth and the competition rules
- What the current antitrust and merger rules deliver, and what they don’t…
- What the current State aid rules deliver, and what they don’t…
To encourage students throughout Europe and beyond to take part in the debate, DG Competition is organising a Student Challenge. Students wishing to participate in this Challenge are invited to choose one of the panel discussions and write a 250-word abstract that answers this question: “What would you have talked about if you had been a speaker?” More details on the Conference and the Student Challenge are available on the Conference web page.
Entrants are invited to send their texts between February 4 and 18, 2021. DG Competition experts will shortlist the best submissions and the winners will be chosen by popular vote. DG Competition will publish in the full-length papers written by the eight winners and the expanded abstracts by the remaining shortlisted entrants.
