G20 Italy 2021 | Y20 Engagement Group - Initiatives

The Young Ambassadors Society (YAS) is organizing multiple initiatives to involve proposals of young people and Italian youth associations to influence the final Y20 press release.

In 2021, Italy will chair the G20 for the first time in history.

Youth 20 (Y20) is the official G20 engagement group dedicated to young people and chaired by the Young Ambassadors Society (YAS), in collaboration with the Sherpa office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation.

Y20 aims to allow young people to express their ideas and visions to the Heads of State and Government of the G20. The topics of discussion of Y20 2021 are in line with the priorities set by the Italian Presidency of the G20, with particular attention to the issues on which young people can provide a concrete contribution and which concern them personally. Specifically, in addition to the world of education as a common thread, the three macro areas of Y20 Italy are: 1. Innovation, digitization and the future of work,

2. Sustainability, climate and energy,

3. Inclusion and equal opportunities.

1. OFFICIAL NATIONAL CONSULTATIONS Y20: YAS is organizing the first and only official national Y20 consultation on 2 July 2021 starting at 14:00, to which Italian youth associations  are invited to share proposals and visions in 3 minutes to bring to G20 leader. The event, which will be held in Italian, will be live and accessible to all on the Facebook page of the Young Ambassadors Society. Associations will be able to register through this form by June 27, 2021.

2. OFFICIAL Y20 SURVEY: Available here. The official Y20 questionnaire was created to collect young people's ideas on the three Y20 themes.

3. SOCIAL MEDIA CONTEST: All young people who want to share their ideas with the Y20, and who are not necessarily part of a youth association, will have the opportunity to send their policy proposal on one or more priority areas with a short video (max 30 sec, with vertical orientation and light background). Proposals will be shared with Y20 delegates as a basis for their negotiations. Furthermore, the 10 best proposals will be shared on the Y20 channels (Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok) and presented in a video during the Y20 Summit on July 19-23. The social audience will be able to vote for the best idea (with a "like" on the post) among the 10 posted videos and 3 winners will have the opportunity to speak live at the summit for 5 minutes.
