The final grade for this exam is given by the weighted average of the grade obtained in the class presentations (50%) and that obtained in the final exam (50%).

Students will be divided in groups and each group will give a 30 minutes presentation in class on one of the topics proposed by the lecturer. Presentations will be held in english and will be concluded before the end of the course.

Each student will be individually evaluated for his/her presentation and for the group work. The grade obtained in the presentation will contribute for 50% to the final grade for the exam and will be valuable only for the summer session following the course. For example, for the students of the academic year 2016-17 the presentation grade obtained in spring 2017 will be valuable for the summer session in 2017.

The final exam is a written exam containing problems, exercises and open questions. It will last about 1h30 min. The grade obtained in the written exam will contribute for the remaining 50% to the final grade for the exams taken in the summer session 2017, and will constitute 100% of the final grade in all other sessions (fall 2017, winter 2018).

Students will practice for the exam on a weekly basis during the TA classes.
The exam can be taken at most once in every academic session.
Withdrawing the written exam is possible, in which case the student can sit in the following exam date of the same session, if any.

The lecturer will publish on the web-page of the course the results of the presentations and of the written exams, and will fix a public meeting with the students to check their results.
