Hi! everyone, my name is Asad Ali Baig and I would like to share with you my experience of doing Dual Degree in my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration & Economics in the academic year 2019/2020. We were five students selected by our University to represent Tor Vergata at University American College Skopje (Macedonia). I accepted this offer as there were number of reasons that pushed me to accept it.
First of all, it was giving me an opportunity to obtain Double Degree instead of just single one, that too from one of the finest internationally accredited institutes. Secondly, our seniors of this programme encouraged us to avail this opportunity and enrich our academic curriculum as the education system in Macedonia particularly in UACS is much different to that in Italy as it follows the American education system unlike the European one. (we have in Tor Vergata.)
In third place, we were also informed by our seniors that the Student life at UACS is fast-paced and differs a lot from Tor Vergata both inside and outside of classroom. I have taken classes in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Management and Accounting as well as a wide range of other modules and by attending these courses I felt the difference too but adapting to the various methods of evaluation and teaching styles in each class was a challenging yet rewarding experience. I also joined UACS Erasmus Student Network and made new friends who came from different parts of the world to the UACS on Erasmus.
Last but not least in addition to studies Macedonia is also wonderful country for traveling, being home to Alexander the Great; Conqueror of the ancient world and birthplace of Mother Theresa, the land is within easy reach of paradises on the Aegean and Adriatic Seas and the country's matchless beauty and marvellous East-Meets-Western culture might just keep you within its borders. Although, Covid_19 restricted us from exploring the whole of Macedonia, but we still managed to visit some of the most beautiful Macedonian cities like Orhid, Tetovo and Mavrovo.
In conclusion, it was wonderful learning experience in Skopje for an entire year and for that I would like to thank our Degree Coordinators Prof. Luca Gnan, Program Manager Silvia Tabuani and Viktorija Gombar (Erasmus Coordinator at UACS) who have always been in contact and available to us during this exchange programme. Finally, I strongly suggest all my juniors of BSc in BAE to take advantage of this opportunity and make your educational background more diverse and earn a double degree rather than just single one.
