EXAM RULES 2026-2027

Students enrolled in previous years (GG3, GG4 etc; when Prof. Buratti taught the Comparative Constitutional Law module) can decide whether to take the exam based on the old or the current syllabus. The two options are, of course, alternatives.
The textbook for Prof. Buratti's syllabus is: A. Buratti, Western Constitutionalism, History, Institutions, Comparative Law, 3rd ed., Giappichelli-Springer, 2023.

Also GG2 students (GG1 at a.y. 2025-2026) can take the exam according to their academic year Syllabus (Foundations of Public Law 2025-2026) or to the current Syllabus (Foundations of Public Law 2026-2027).

If you choose a syllabus prior to the current one, you must communicate this before the exam following the instructions that will be shared through the GG Office and/or student representatives.

GG1 2026-2027 have to take the exam on the current Syllabus (Foundations of Public Law 2026-2027).

The exam is the same for both attending and non-attending students.
The exam format is the same regardless of your year of enrollment: students from previous years are entitled to keep their original syllabus, but not the previous exam format.

The exam of Foundations of Public Law (for all Syllabi), starting from a.y. 2026-27, consists of two parts:

  • A written test, in multiple-choice format, consisting of 30 questions.
A minimum score of 18 out of 30 in the written test is required to proceed to the written open-ended part.

  • An written exam consisting of open-ended questions

In general, the test takes place in the morning and the open-ended written exam in the afternoon of the same day. The final results are communicated in the following days.

It is not possible to review your written test immediately after the exam; an appointment must be made to do so during office hours.

The final grade for the Legal Traditions and Comparative Law exam will be the average of the grades obtained in the modules.
