Regolamento esame

PART A

  1. The final exam consists of a compulsory written (closed book!) exam covering the entire course's material. Minimum qualifying grade required to get credit: 18/30.

  2. The oral exam is optional and consists in one question worth 2/30. In case of wrong answer, the same points (i.e. 2/30) will be deducted from the grade of the written exam.

  3. Students can take the written exam only once per session, unless they opt to withdraw BEFORE the end of the written exam and give up to the grading of their exam.

  4. Students cannot retake the written exam in the same session even if it is passed, but the grade is not accepted.

  5. For the formal registration on the DELPHI system all students MUST formally accept the final grade by showing up in person in the due date and by signing the exam registry (i.e. the date indicated for the oral exam). If you do not show up on the due date, your grade will NEVER be registered on the DELPHI system. In other words, without any formal acceptance on your part, the grade will NOT be recorded (in the entry of your exam result on the DELPHI system you will read "ritirato" - withdrawn)... DURA LEX, SED LEX.

  6. Grades cannot be "frozen" by postponing registration to a future exam date: BELATED REGISTRATION OF GRADES IS NOT ALLOWED!

  7. In the case of failure the failing grade will not be recorded and on the DELPHI system you will read "ritirato" - withdrawn

  8. Written exam results will be posted on line on the electtronic notice board as soon as possible - Refer to http://economia.uniroma2.it/ba/businesseconomics/corso/avvisi/533/

  9. Please notice that "ignorance of the law does not excuse".

PART B

  1. In order to take an exam, students MUST register on-line via the web-site http://delphi.uniroma2.it. Students who are not registered for the scheduled exam are not admitted to the exam.

  2. Always arrive 10 - 15 minutes before the scheduled exam time.

  3. Students who arrive more than 15 minutes after the scheduled exam time will NOT be admitted to the exam. No additional time will be given.

  4. Be prepared to show your ID card or your passport.

  5. Bargaining on grading is not allowed.

  6. During the exam:

    1. Students MUST write their full name in capital letters and their registration number on each paper they use

    2. Students who need additional paper should raise their hand, stay seated and await the arrival of an invigilator

    3. Strict silence must be observed at all times

    4. Students are not permitted to leave the examination room temporarily

    5. Students must write legibly.

    6. Students can leave the classroom as soon as they have finished the examination (quietly and without disturbing other students!). When returning their exam students must sign a registry. If you return your exam 30 minutes before the natural end of the examination, this will recorded on the registry.

    7. No examination question paper may be removed from the examination room

    8. All paper sheets received must be returned at the end of  the exam. It is ONLY student's resposanbility to return all sheets along with the examination question paper

    9. It goes without saying that If you withdraw, your exam will not be graded.

  7. Any act of academic disoneshty will result in a failing grade. This failing grade may be registered in the student's record, implying that it will affect the grade point average - GPA. Some examples of academic dishonesty include (but are not limited to!!!): (i) use of textbooks, classnotes or any other unauthorized materials during the exam; (ii) access unauthorized computing and communication devices during the exam (mobile phones, smartwatches etc...); (iii) collaboration and communication with other students during the exam; (iv) looking at other student's papers during the exam; (v) taking the exam for someone else or having someone take the exam for you; (vi) obtaining exam questions in advance through illicit means, etc...

  8. Students' exams are handled with great care and never get lost. If after and exmination you do not see you grade online, either you haven't provided your registration number or you have withdrawn or you haven't returned your exam

  9. For the written exam each student must bring the following items: pen, pencil, eraser, ruler, sharpener, non-programmable calculator (non-communicating, silent and self-powered device!) and a plain watch if you need to check the time. Exchange of these items during the exam is deprecated. Use of mobile phones as calculator is prohibited!!!

  10. The space underneath your desk must be empty

  11. Please notice that "ignorance of the law does not excuse".

PART C - Erasmus students

If you plan to take this course abroad, please be aware of the following:

  • Macroeconomics/Global Economics is a unique course granting 9 ECTS.
  • In general this course has a corresponding course in any of the host University under any of these following names: Macroeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Introduction to Macroeconomics etc...
  • It is your responsibility to look at the course content summary and find possible matches with the courses taught at the host University
  • In the case I approve the course (in the sense that I declare that the course according to its contents could be eligible for validation), fill in the form provided by the Erasmus office and pop in my office for the signature.
  • Validation of an exam taken abroad is the final outcome of an administrative procedure that requires the respect of specific and formal standards in the lack of which recognition cannot be granted. Students must always refer to the Erasmus Office,  to the Students Administrative Office (Segreteria Studenti) and to the Programme Office and verify with them if all these standards are met.

If you are an Erasmus student and Tor Vergata is your host University, you are welcome to attend this course. All the exam rules apply.

PART D - Miscellanea

  • Non-attending students are responsible to make up all work missed. Office hours are devoted to clarifications not to private lessons.
  • Rules are here to be respected by everyone, not just by diligent students. Professors have the same time constraint and patience of ordinary human beings, therefore e-mails asking for exceptions or for information, that can be deducted by reading the contents of the course webpage, will be systematically disregarded. For further details on my e-mail policy, see here
  • Division of labour is a fundamental principle that governs every institution. Therefore for any administrative quibbles or matters students must refer to the administrative offices (i.e. transfers to or from other University or programme, exam validation, administrative delays or deficiencies, gradutation dates, clashes of examination dates etc…). E-mails on these matters will be disregarded as well. If my academic advise or pre-approval is required, be aware that I will not deal directly with students and the relavant information and documentation should be transmitted to me by the office in charge of the procedure.
