Downloading and setting up Wolfram Mathematica

As we mentioned in the lecture today, tomorrow Prof. Greenblatt (who is actually writing this message) will be using a program called Wolfram Mathematica. There are (at least) two versions of this which are available:

The "desktop" version for computers (windows/mac/linux): this is a paid product that the university has a subscription to for all students; there is more information here, the important point is that you need to first activate an account by going to Delphi, logging in clicking on “Altri Servizi” and then “Attivazione licenza Mathematica” and following the link there; once you have done that you can download the program from account.wolfram.com. Be warned that the program is quite large, so it will probably take a while to download and install.
The cloud version at https://www.wolfram.com/cloud/; the basic version (which should be good enough for now) is free but does require creating an account (which can be the same account you use to download the desktop version). If you plan to use it on a tablet (which I would only recommend if it has a keyboard) you should probably download and set up the "Wolfram Cloud" app.

I am more familiar with the desktop version, which has some advantages, but the cloud version is also an option if the desktop version is impractical for you.
