Programma
Il corso è suddiviso in due moduli (Introduzione all'economia internazionale e Teoria dei giochi).
Il primo modulo fornisce agli studenti una panoramica dei legami economici e finanziari tra un Paese e l'economia mondiale, utilizzando come riferimento la bilancia dei pagamenti e il modello keynesiano reddito-spesa in un'economia aperta.
Il secondo modulo è un'introduzione alla teoria dei giochi. Verranno analizzati il criterio di dominanza e l'equilibrio di Nash con strategie pure e miste, nonché diversi perfezionamenti dell'equilibrio (induzione all'indietro, equilibrio di Nash subgame perfect). Verrà inoltre fornita un'introduzione agli equilibri bayesiani e ai giochi ripetuti. Le lezioni utilizzano diversi esempi nel campo dell'economia, della politica e della politica economica. Quest'anno utilizzeremo quadri strategici per analizzare il conflitto tra Ucraina e Russia.
Durante ogni lezione, i docenti presentano i contenuti previsti con l'ausilio di presentazioni power point e invitano gli studenti alla riflessione critica e al dialogo.
Program
The Course is divided into two Modules (Introduction to International Economics and Game Theory).
The first module provides students with an overview of the economic and financial links between a country and the world economy, using the balance of payments and the Keynesian income-expenditure model in an open economy as a reference.
The 2nd module is an introduction to game theory. The criterion of dominance and the equilibrium of Nash will be analysed with pure strategies and mixed strategies, as well as different refinements of the equilibrium (Backwards Induction, subgame perfect Nash equilibrium). An introduction to Bayesian equilibrium and repeated games will also be provided. The lessons use several examples in the field of economics, politics and economic policy. This year we will use strategic frameworks to analyze the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
During each lecture, the lecturers present the planned content with the aid of power point presentations and invite students to critical reflection and dialogue.

Regolamento Esame
L'esame valuta la preparazione complessiva dello studente, la capacità di integrare le conoscenze delle diverse parti del programma, la consequenzialità del ragionamento, la capacità analitica e la chiarezza espositiva, secondo i descrittori di Dublino (1. conoscenza e comprensione; 2. applicare conoscenza e comprensione; 3. formulare giudizi; 4. capacità di apprendimento; 5. capacità di comunicazione).
Il modulo I (Prof. Paesani) vale 1/3 del voto del corso.
Il modulo II (Prof. Chiarini) vale 2/3 del voto del corso.
Esame Modulo Paesani
La verifica dell'apprendimento avviene esclusivamente attraverso un esame finale che consiste in una prova scritta. L'esame consiste in tre domande aperte (stesso peso, 1/3 del voto finale) più una domanda bonus. L'obiettivo dell'esame finale è quello di verificare il raggiungimento dei risultati di apprendimento del corso. In particolare, l'esame valuta la preparazione complessiva dello studente, la capacità di integrare le conoscenze delle diverse parti del programma, la consequenzialità del ragionamento, la capacità analitica e l'autonomia di giudizio. Vengono inoltre valutate le competenze linguistiche e la chiarezza espositiva, in conformità con i descrittori di Dublino.
Punteggio minimo per il superamento della prova scritta 18 su 30.
Gli studenti possono sostenere l'esame in tutte le date disponibili. non è previsto il salto d'appello.
Modulo d'esame Chiarini
Se gli studenti saranno sempre presenti alle lezioni (più dell'80% di presenza in classe), sarà possibile sostenere nella settimana del mid-term un test di sintesi intermedio basato sulle prime 3 settimane di lezione sul lavoro svolto (20% del voto). Il restante 80% sarà una prova scritta. Gli studenti non frequentanti dovranno svolgere un esame finale scritto più lungo sull'intero programma.
Criteri di valutazione validi per entrambi i moduli
FAIL: importanti carenze e/o imprecisioni nella conoscenza e nella comprensione degli argomenti; limitata capacità di analisi e sintesi, frequenti generalizzazioni e limitate capacità critiche e di giudizio, gli argomenti sono esposti in modo incoerente e con un linguaggio inappropriato;
18-20: Conoscenza e comprensione appena sufficiente degli argomenti con possibili generalizzazioni e imperfezioni; sufficiente capacità di analisi, sintesi e autonomia di giudizio, gli argomenti sono frequentemente esposti in modo incoerente e con linguaggio inappropriato/tecnico;
21-23: Conoscenza e comprensione ordinaria degli argomenti; capacità di analisi e sintesi corretta con argomentazione logica sufficientemente coerente e linguaggio appropriato/tecnico.
24-26: Discreta conoscenza e comprensione degli argomenti; buone capacità di analisi e sintesi con argomentazioni espresse in modo rigoroso ma con un linguaggio non sempre appropriato/tecnico.
27-29: Conoscenza e comprensione completa degli argomenti; notevole capacità di analisi e sintesi. Buona autonomia di giudizio. Argomentazioni presentate in modo rigoroso e con un linguaggio appropriato/tecnico.
30-30L: Ottimo livello di conoscenza e comprensione approfondita degli argomenti. Ottime capacità di analisi e sintesi e autonomia di giudizio. Argomenti espressi in modo originale e con un linguaggio tecnico appropriato.
Exam Rules
The examination assesses the student's overall preparation, ability to integrate the knowledge of the different parts of the program, consequentiality of reasoning, analytical ability and clarity of presentation, in accordance with the Dublin descriptors (1. knowledge and understanding; 2. applying knowledge and understanding; 3. making judgements; 4. learning skills; 5. communication skills).
Module I (Prof. Paesani) counts for 1/3 of the course grade.
Module II (Prof. Chiarini) counts for 2/3 of the course grade.
Exam Module Paesani
The verification of learning takes place exclusively through a final examination which consists of a written exam. The exam consists of three open questions (same weight, 1/3 of final mark) plus a bonus question.
The objective of the final examination is to verify the achievement of the course learning outcome. In particular, the examination assesses the student's overall preparation, ability to integrate knowledge of the different parts of the programme, consequentiality of reasoning, analytical ability and autonomy of judgement. In addition, language skills and clarity of exposition are assessed, in adherence with the Dublin descriptors.
Minimum score for passing the written test 18 out of 30.
Students may take the examination on all available dates. there is no roll-call jump.
Exam module Chiarini
If the students are always present at the lessons (more than 80% of in class presence), it will be possible to take during the week of the mid-term a mid-term summary test based on the first 3 weeks of class on the work done (20% of the grade). The remaining 80% will be a written test. Non attending students will have to perform a longer final written exam on the whole program.
Grading criteria valid for both modules
FAIL: important deficiencies and/or inaccuracies in the knowledge and understanding of the topics; limited ability to analyse and synthesise, frequent generalisations and limited critical and judgemental skills, the topics are set out inconsistently and with inappropriate language;
18-20: Barely sufficient knowledge and understanding of the topics with possible generalisations and imperfections; sufficient capacity for analysis, synthesis and autonomy of judgement, the topics are frequently exposed in an incoherent manner and with inappropriate/technical language;
21-23: Routine knowledge and understanding of topics; ability to analyse and synthesise correctly with sufficiently coherent logical argumentation and appropriate/technical language
24-26: Fair knowledge and understanding of the topics; Good analytical and synthetic skills with arguments expressed in a rigorous manner but with language that is not always appropriate/technical.
27-29: Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the topics; considerable capacity for analysis and synthesis. Good autonomy of judgement. Arguments presented in a rigorous manner and with appropriate/technical language
30-30L: Excellent level of knowledge and thorough understanding of topics. Excellent analytical and synthetic skills and independent judgement. Arguments expressed in an original manner and with appropriate technical language.

Regolamento Esame
Modulo 1: Durante la settimana dell'esame parziale, verrà somministrato un esame scritto per gli studenti frequentanti (più dell'80% di presenza in classe). Gli studenti non frequentanti e gli studenti che non svolgono o non superano il parziale sosterranno un esame scritto alla fine del corso.
Modulo 2: Se gli studenti sono sempre presenti alle lezioni (più dell'80% di presenza in classe), sarà possibile svolgere durante la settimana del parziale un test di sintesi basato sulle prime 3 settimane di lezioni (20% del voto). Il restante 80% sarà costituito da un esame scritto. Gli studenti non frequentanti dovranno svolgere un esame finale scritto più lungo su tutto il programma.
Exam Rules
Module 1: During the week of the mid-term, a written exam will be administered for attending students who have attended more than 80% of the classes. Non-attending students and students who do not take or fail the mid-term will take a written exam at the end of the course.
Module 2: If students are consistently present at the lessons (more than 80% of in-class presence), they will have the option to take a summary test during the week of the mid-term, which will be based on the material covered in the first 3 weeks of the course and account for 20% of the final grade. The remaining 80% of the grade will be determined by a written test. Non-attending students will be required to take a longer final written exam covering the entire course content.

Course Description
