OBIETTIVI FORMATIVI: L'insegnamento si propone di raggiungere il livello CEFR B1, in termini di comprensione e produzione scritta e orale della lingua.
CONOSCENZA E CAPACITÀ DI COMPRENSIONE: Al termine del corso, gli studenti saranno in grado di (i) comprendere, a livello generale, testi scritti e orali di vario genere (ii) cimentarsi con diverse pronunce dell’inglese internazionale.
CAPACITÀ DI APPLICARE CONOSCENZA E COMPRENSIONE: Al termine del corso, gli studenti saranno in grado di (i) identificare le idee e le argomentazioni principali di testi scritti e orali (ii) utilizzare il lessico specifico, in modo pertinente ed adeguato (iii) argomentare i temi trattati nei testi.
AUTONOMIA DI GIUDIZIO: Al termine del corso, gli studenti saranno in grado di (i) valutare la coerenza testuale di testi di carattere economico-finanziario (ii) classificare le idee e le argomentazioni principali (iii) dedurre conclusioni e implicazioni.
ABILITÀ COMUNICATIVE: Al termine del corso, gli studenti saranno in grado di (i) esporre in modo sintetico i punti più salienti di un testo scritto e orale (ii) evidenziare il flusso di informazioni e di argomentazioni di un testo.
CAPACITÀ DI APPRENDIMENTO: Al termine del corso, gli studenti saranno in grado di (i) consultare le risorse linguistiche online introdotte durante il corso (es. dizionari, glossari) (ii) reperire e valutare nuove risorse online (iii) creare glossari suddivisi per aree tematiche e funzioni linguistiche.
Prerequisiti (propedeuticità): È richiesta una conoscenza di base della lingua inglese livello CEFR A2 Gli studenti, eventualmente non in possesso di tali conoscenze preliminari, dovranno farsi carico di acquisirle attraverso un’'attività di studio individuale. A tal fine, si suggerisce il seguente testo: Hird Jon, Grammar and Vocabulary for the Real World, Oxford University Press (ISBN: 978-0-19-481028-9).
Programma:
Il corso approfondirà la comprensione scritta e orale, la produzione scritta e orale e la grammatica. Si soffermerà, in particolare, su quattro macro-tematiche: working life, techonologies, the environment, successful companies.

Materiale di riferimento: Tutti i materiali verranno forniti dal docente e caricati sulla pagina del sito.
Modalità di svolgimento del corso: Il corso avrà un’impostazione prettamente pratica e interattiva, con l’obiettivo di porre gli studenti al centro del processo di apprendimento. L’argomento di ogni lezione verrà introdotto in modo deduttivo (guided discovery) seguiranno poi dibattiti, esercizi in gruppo e/o individuali. Si farà anche uso della lezione capovolta (flipped classroom) al fine di ottimizzare il tempo in aula. Le lezioni si svolgeranno interamente in inglese.
La frequenza è facoltativa ma vivamente consigliata.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: The course aims at getting students’ language level to a CEFR B1 level, in terms of listening, reading, speaking and writing skills.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: By the end of the course, students will be able to (i) use specific vocabulary accordingly (ii) identify key ideas and supporting ideas in spoken and written texts (iii) discuss the contents analysed in texts.
MAKING JUDGEMENTS: By the end of the course, students will be able to (i) assess the coherence of spoken and written texts (ii) classify key ideas and supporting ideas (iii) make conclusions and deduce implications.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: By the end of the course, students will be able to (i) summarise key ideas of a text (ii) highlight the logical reasoning behind a test.
LEARNING SKILLS: By the end of the course students will be able to (i) use the online language resources introduced during the course efficiently (e.g. dictionaries, glossaries) (ii) search for and assess new online language resources (iii) create subject-based glossaries.
Students are required to have an A2 level of English to attend the course. Students who do not have that level, would need to prepare individually. Students may use the book below for personal study: Hird Jon, Grammar and Vocabulary for the Real World, Oxford University Press (ISBN: 978-0-19-481028-9)

A number of reading and listening comprehension exercises on the above-mentioned topics. A number of writing and speaking exercises on the above-mentioned topics.
All materials will be provided by the lecturer and uploaded onto the website.
The course will follow the student-centred method and will be highly practical and interactive. Each lesson will be introduced via a guided discovery activity and then there will be students’ discussions and pair/group work. The course will also make use of the flipped classroom method to optimize classroom time. The course will be held entirely in English.
Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended.
