Dear students,

I am sharing a short note to clarify what you are expected to do for the next two classes.

For Thursday

Please read the Tony’s Chocolonely case and the related questions, especially the questions on page 9.

As you read the case, please reflect on how it helps us consolidate the topics we have recently discussed, especially: networks; supply chains; stakeholder relationships; systemic change.

The case will help us “close” this part of the course and move toward the next step: understanding how firms respond to broader external pressures.

On Thursday, we will also work on external pressures, especially EU policy pressures. Each group will be asked to briefly share how a relevant policy, regulation, or institutional pressure may affect its focal company and key stakeholders.

For Friday

Please be ready to take stock of your work on the analytical lenses applied to your case.

In particular, each group should be ready to briefly discuss:

• which lenses you have already applied;
• what evidence you have collected;
• what is becoming clearer;
• where you still have doubts;
• what tensions or strategic issues are beginning to emerge.

On Friday, we will then move to the topic of strategy. 

Dear students,

I would like to remind you that this course is based on active participation, continuous engagement, and collaborative project work.

The group project is not simply a way to reduce the workload of the final assessment. It is an essential part of the learning process. The course is designed around in-class activities, group discussions, progressive project development, peer feedback, and shared reflection. For this reason, students who work in groups are expected to be active participants in the course.

I have noticed that some students attended only one or two classes, joined a group, and then stopped participating. This does not apply to students who have already informed me about their absence for justified personal reasons.

Please note that students who miss more than three classes will normally not be considered attending students. In exceptional and justified cases, a maximum of four absences may be accepted.

Students who cannot be considered attending will take the exam as non-attending students. This means that the exam will be based on: the book; the course materials; an individual assignment.

Students who do not participate regularly and do not contribute to the development of the group project will be removed from the groups.

The aim is to ensure fairness towards the students who are attending, collaborating, and actively contributing to the course activities.
