Obiettivi Formativi
OBIETTIVI FORMATIVI: Alla fine del corso, gli studenti avranno dimostrato di aver compreso il
processo di ricerca. Ciò includerà: generare e formulare idee di ricerca; condurre una revisione della
letteratura; leggere ed estrarre informazioni da articoli economici; trovare, raccogliere e analizzare dati;
scrivere un articolo accademico e presentare efficacemente i risultati.
CONOSCENZA E CAPACITÀ DI COMPRENSIONE: Il set di capacità acquisite costituisce un
supporto fondamentale per gli studenti interessati a svolgere attività di ricerca accademica.
CAPACITÀ DI APPLICARE CONOSCENZA E COMPRENSIONE: Al termine del corso, gli studenti
saranno in grado di impostare un progetto di ricerca, raccogliere ed elaborare diversi tipi di dati e
comunicare efficacemente i risultati.
AUTONOMIA DI GIUDIZIO: Gli studenti saranno in grado di identificare e formulare domande di
ricerca importanti e rilevanti per politiche economiche, di comprendere quali fonti di dati e metodi si
adattano meglio alla domanda di ricerca e di comunicare i risultati in modo efficace.
ABILITÀ COMUNICATIVE: Gli studenti saranno in grado di comunicare l'impostazione e i risultati di
un progetto di ricerca in modo formale ed efficace sia agli accademici che ai policy-maker. L'enfasi sarà
posta sia sulla scrittura accademica che sulla presentazione di un progetto di ricerca.
Learning Objectives
LEARNING OUTCOMES: At the end of the course, students will have proved their understanding of
the research process. This will include: generating and formulating research ideas; conducting a
literature review; reading and extracting information from economics papers; finding, collecting, and
analyzing data; writing an academic paper and effectively presenting the results.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: The acquired skill set is a fundamental support for
students interested in doing academic research.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: By the end of the course, students will be
able to set up a research project, gather and process different types of data, and effectively
communicate the results.
MAKING JUDGEMENTS: Students will be able to identify and formulate important and policyrelevant
research questions, understand which data sources and methods fit the research question
better, and communicate the results effectively.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Students will be able to communicate the set up and results of a
research project formally and effectively to both academic and policy-makers. Emphasis will be placed
on both academic writing and delivering an academic presentatio

Regolamento Esame
Questo corso non prevede esame finale. Il voto finale, sulla scala 0-30L, sarà assegnato in base a: i)
presentazioni degli studenti durante il corso; una proposta di ricerca da consegnare dopo la fine del
corso (data TBD).
0-17: importanti carenze e/o inaccuratezze nella conoscenza e comprensione degli argomenti; limitate
capacità di analisi e sintesi, frequenti generalizzazioni.
18-20: conoscenza e comprensione degli argomenti appena sufficiente con possibili imperfezioni;
capacità di analisi sintesi e autonomia di giudizio sufficienti.
21-23: Conoscenza e comprensione degli argomenti routinaria; Capacità di analisi e sintesi corrette con
argomentazione logica coerente.
24-26: Discreta conoscenza e comprensione degli argomenti; buone capacità di analisi e sintesi con
argomentazioni espresse in modo rigoroso.
27-29: Conoscenza e comprensione degli argomenti completa; notevoli capacità di analisi, sintesi.
Buona autonomia di giudizio.
30-30L: Ottimo livello di conoscenza e comprensione degli argomenti. Notevoli capacità di analisi e di
sintesi e di autonomia di giudizio. Argomentazioni espresse in modo originale.
Exam Rules
The final grade, on the 0-30L scale, will be based on: i) student presentations throughout the course; ii)
a research proposal to be delivered after the end of the course (date TBD).
Insufficient (0-17):
Knowledge and Understanding: Significant deficiencies and/or inaccuracies in knowledge and
understanding of the topics.
Skills: Limited analytical and synthesis skills.
Sufficient (18-20): Knowledge and Understanding: Adequate knowledge and understanding of the
topics with possible imperfections.
Skills: Sufficient analytical, synthesis, and independent judgment skills.
Adequate (21-23): Knowledge and Understanding: Understanding of routine topics.
Skills: Correct analysis and synthesis skills with coherent logical argumentation.
Good (24-26): Knowledge and Understanding: Fair knowledge and understanding of the topics.
Skills: Good analytical and synthesis skills with rigorously expressed arguments.
Very Good (27-29): Knowledge and Understanding: Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of
the topics.
Skills: Remarkable analytical and synthesis skills. Good independent judgment.
Excellent (30-30L): Knowledge and Understanding: Excellent level of knowledge and understanding
of the topics.
Skills: Exceptional analytical and synthesis skills and independent judgment. Arguments expressed in
an original way.
