Dear all,
as discussed in class today, we will meet in presence on January 8 and 9 for your group project presentations. These are by far my favorite classes, I am so looking forward to seeing your creations! GG2 representatives: please have a device (smartphone or tablet) ready to connect with me, as a faculty member will allow me to connect via Zoom but I will need a more mobile solution to better follow your performances :)
Second note: please watch Coded Bias on Netflix - we'll discuss it on Thursday, December 12.
Finally, do watch Sam Harris' TED Talk on general artificial intelligence (https://www.ted.com/talks/sam_harris_can_we_build_ai_without_losing_control_over_it) and read the article on why AGI will not be built (it is linked on the slides but I'm adding the link here too for your convenience: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41599-020-0494-4). I am very curious to hear your perspective on this debate.

On Telegram e2ee (end-to-end encryption)
Dear all,
Telegram does not provide e2ee by default and you can only encrypt messages with one other user, not group chats - here is an example of the discussion on this that followed the arrest of Pavel Durov in Paris: https://blog.cryptographyengineering.com/2024/08/25/telegram-is-not-really-an-encrypted-messaging-app/
Hope this clears up some of the doubts that were raised in today's conversation.
