Summary of Effective Skills Assignment (as of 27.11.24)
- 1) One long CV in a draft form where you list all facts, experiences and attributes that could be in a CV. This is a ‘working’ document that should be in draft form – it is essentially incomplete and you can keep adding to it.
- 2) One polished, professional CV following the CV guidelines and which is ‘perfect’. This is a CV that, if asked for, you could use tomorrow.
- 3) A ‘practice’ report of your playful topic research in which you put your material into the report style structure. This is a draft where you practice using this style of writing and presentation, as it is quite different from an essay. Aiming for about 1,000 words is good.
- 4) A ‘polished and perfect’ report based on your ‘In the Workplace’ research topic. Aim for about 2,000 words. It is fine if you decide to do a bit of extra research to ‘fill in the gaps’ from the group research and/or take the research into a more focused direction that you choose.
Both reports should have a section called ‘Results’ and it is in this section that you have your graphs and charts, key quotes from interviewees, etc. and explanations of your findings. This means that this material is presented in the section before Discussion and that in the Discussion section you are just interpreting the results and findings for the reader referring back to the Results section. Each of the sections in the report both link to the next and are ‘stand alone’.
- 5) Plus, a short reflection on the Group Work experience, including; your personal aims for the Group Work activities; what you think you brought to the group; and the strengths and weaknesses of the group work.
No cover letter/statement is required.
All of this together in one PDF file, please. And please send to Douglas.BrownGG@gmx.com by Thursday 19th December.
