Hi, my name is Erica Ruggieri, I’m 18 years old and I come from Taranto, in Italy. During the high school, I specialized in Administration, Finance and Marketing. During the summer of 2017 I was awarded a study-holiday scholarship through a school language project and I attended English lessons in London for three weeks; apart from the linguistic importance, my stay also enriched me from a cultural and personal point of view. I have been interested in Global Governance for several years and now that I’m here I am even more convinced that this is undoubtedly the best option for me and for my future. Thanks to this program and all my classmates, during my studies, I can be in contact with different cultures and languages. In my opinion, this is a very essential aspect to open our mind and face global challenges. I am profoundly passionate about global, humanitarian, historic and artistic issues as a result of many years of personal research and interest; in fact, I like reading about topics related to contemporary social and political matters. My interests embrace international and national issues, such as organized crime, economic, environmental and political debates, and social inequalities. I strongly believe in activism, in fact I am proudly a member of “Libera”, an anti-mafia association, and I participate actively in its local and national events, demonstrations and gatherings. I’m also a member of “Amnesty International” and I actively take part in most of the activities organized by “Fridays for Future”, “Retake”, “Non una di meno” and many more associations and groups that face up to different types of struggles.
