Alessandro MASSARINI

Copenhagen Business School - Master's Degree in Business Administration and Innovation in Health Care

I am 22 years old. I was born and raised in Rome where I attended a scientific high school. In my fourth year of high school had the great opportunity of spending one year abroad in Vancouver, Canada, an experience that changed my life. Three years ago, when I had to decide a route for my bachelor’s programme, I was aware that I wanted to study something innovative. Only later did I understand how important it is, in this time, to acquire a combination of ‘soft skills’ and to take part in inter-disciplinary education. Indeed, my Bachelor in Global Governance offered a unique combination of courses. I have learned global economic and management theories and studied the relationships between the interests of privates and public entities. I have analysed the problems that arise when different legal systems co-exist and compete with one another within the same territory or domain, and the benefits that harmonisation in regulations, standards and legal principles can bring about. I have observed Rome under an anthropological perspective and the middle East under a social one. I have learned how to write a statement of financial position and understood the importance of corporate social responsibility and the role it could and should have in the future. But, more than anything else, I believe that this course has taught me to face situations using a multi-dimensional approach, thus understanding the different factors that come into play. Over the course of these three years I’ve also had the chance to attend many conferences and events on different topics attended and organised by experts and prestigious professors. Moreover I’ve had the great opportunity of carrying out two internships. In my second year, I have worked, together with a team of six people, at the Diplomacy Festival, which took place in Rome across more than 70 embassies and 7 universities where high ranked diplomats, ambassadors and journalists met to discuss about various issues. I was responsible of the logistics of the festival and had to be ready to do multiple things, such as writing articles or taking photographs. Furthermore, in the summer break between my second and third year I’ve had the pleasure of being part of the International Consortium on Applied Bioeconomy and Research staff. The ICABR took place in Ravello, in the heart of the Amalfi coast. There I was the official photographer as well as responsible of the logistics. Besides, I had the chance to talk to different experts of the field and enjoy a week of interesting discussions. I am now in the process of writing my dissertation and I will graduate in July with a major in business administration. I can’t wait to see what lies ahead!
