The World Food Forum (WFF) was launched in 2021 by the Youth Committee of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as an independent network of partners.
Hosted within FAO, it serves as the premier global platform to actively shape agrifood systems for a better food future, accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Through youth action, science and innovation, and investment, WFF brings together young people from around the world to create solutions to some of the most pressing challenges the agrifood system faces today.
We are very glad to host this initiative in Tor Vergata University and engage our students in meaningful discussions about the critical role of youth in transforming agrifood systems.
The University Week is designed to raise awareness on pressing food system issues and encourage students to contribute to developing innovative solutions.
Activities we are planning:
- Workshop
Oct. 3rd h.14-16pm. - Room TL
during MARKETING FOR DIGITAL INNOVATION COURSE BY PROF.SIMONETTA PATTUGLIA
Master of Science Business Administration
We will host interactive sessions on topics such as sustainability, food security, food waste reduction, and youth leadership in agrifood systems. These will be led by experts and young leaders from the World Food Forum. Additionally, we want to provide our students with the opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas, and questions during these sessions, fostering meaningful engagement.
- Sustainable Food Station:
A STATION IN OUR SCHOOL WILL BE PROVIDED (HALL BUILDING A, School of Economics and Management, Via Columbia 2)
In line with the goal to reduce food waste and promote sustainability, WFF plan to set up a food station offering free samples of international dishes made from surplus food. WFF is considering partnering with platforms like TooGoodToGo for this initiative.
- Engagement and Prizes:
To further engage students, WFF will organize quizzes and Freerice trivia game focused on food systems, with the opportunity to win World Food Forum merchandise. We also aim to encourage students to share their experiences on social media to help spread awareness and grow our community.
We would greatly appreciate teachers and students to encourage participation in the event. This will help attract more students, who can then ask questions, seek advice, and interact directly with the WFF team.
We invite our students ALSO to our flagship World Food Forum event from October 14th to 18th. This is a great opportunity for them to join an exciting journey, network with global experts, and engage in transformative discussions on food systems. WFF is also having an open call for student volunteers and we would love to give to our students the chance to be recruited for these roles.
Through this initiative, WFF and Tor Vergata aim to:
- Raise awareness about the World Food Forum's mission and engage our students in impactful conversations about food systems.
- Inspire and empower students to contribute to global efforts toward sustainability and food security.
- Build partnerships WFF-Universities like Tor Vergata to continue these critical discussions in the future.
This would be a great opportunity for our students to engage with real-world issues while enjoying a fun and educational experience. All of us in Tor Vergata University School of Economics and Management are excited about the possibility of working with the World Food Forum and making a positive impact together.
