Giulia PARENTI

Alma Mater Studiorum, Università di Bologna - Laurea Magistrale in Scienze Internazionali e Diplomatiche, Forlì

My name is Giulia Parenti, I am 21 years old and I live in Rome. After attending the Marymount Institute, I graduated from Liceo Classico. I had many international experiences attending to MUN (Model United Nations) simulations and traveling a lot, an activity I enjoy very much as meeting new people from different countries. During these years at Global Governance I had many fantastic experiences, as the course itself is a wonderful journey of three years. Among those experiences, two are worth to be mentioned. The first one is when I had the honor to be invited by Società Nazionale Dante Alighieri, that is the Association deputed to preserve and spread Italian culture, to held a conference in its Norwegian venues during my second year. During this experience I learned how to speak to a high-profile public as well as how cultural diplomacy and the diplomatic world works and what an important asset it is for my country. The other experience is the internship I have done to the UNESCO Office of the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage, thanks to which I had also the opportunity to attend in Florence the first G7 of Culture ever held. During my time there, I attended meetings with government members as well as diplomats and I acquired a wide range of skills, from how to run a meeting and how to write a report, to how the UNESCO in Paris works, who are its interlocutors and what are its procedure as well as understanding what is the national process through which a cultural item have to undertake in order to be enlisted to the UNESCO World Heritage list. In my spare time I like reading classical authors, going to the theater as much as listening to Opera and classical music, playing the piano, and dancing.
