Federica FABIANO

Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies - Master in International Affairs, Geneva

Federica has a Bachelor’s degree in Global Governance from the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy, and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from The Graduate Institute in Geneva. Majoring in Global Security with a Minor in Environment, Resources and Sustainability, she wrote a final dissertation on food security and gender equality, studying if women’s rights to land are part of the solution. Having spent a considerable amount of time in Nepal as a volunteer in an orphanage, Federica decided to focus her Master’s dissertation on Nepal, which remains a special place for her. Federica is very interested in partnerships and fundraising and in learning more about humanitarian financing.

Before joining the Norwegian Refugee Council, where she works as a Trainee in the Institutional Partnership team, Federica worked for more than eight months in the Fundraising & Communications team of The New Humanitarian (formerly IRIN News) after having completed a 3-month internship with CIVICUS Global Alliance for Citizen Participation. Thanks to her experience at CIVICUS, Federica enhanced her research and analytical skills and became more familiar with the UN architecture after having participated in two Human Rights Council Sessions. Federica also strengthened her knowledge of the UN system through an applied research project on Community Resilience conducted in partnership with UNDP and the WHO while completing her Master’s degree.
