I updated the 1-to-1 meeting schedule for Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 on the course webpage. Each meeting is 15 minutes. You should use these meetings to discuss your planned research proposal with me. The meetings will be held in S10.

You will only need to show up for the allocated meeting slot.

On Monday 11/05, you will work in groups and discuss your planned research proposal with your classmates.

Now that our classes are over, first of all I would again like to thank you very much for all the engagement, attention, and motivation across the weeks together.

On this premise, as I anticipated in the classroom, the recap of the class materials to study for the exam is as follows:

1) TEXTBOOK: only the last chapter "Productivity, Operations Management, and Total Quality Management" has to be excluded;

Dear students,

I am sharing a short note to clarify what you are expected to do for the next two classes.

For Thursday

Please read the Tony’s Chocolonely case and the related questions, especially the questions on page 9.

As you read the case, please reflect on how it helps us consolidate the topics we have recently discussed, especially: networks; supply chains; stakeholder relationships; systemic change.

The case will help us “close” this part of the course and move toward the next step: understanding how firms respond to broader external pressures.

On Thursday, we will also work on external pressures, especially EU policy pressures. Each group will be asked to briefly share how a relevant policy, regulation, or institutional pressure may affect its focal company and key stakeholders.

For Friday

Please be ready to take stock of your work on the analytical lenses applied to your case.

In particular, each group should be ready to briefly discuss:

• which lenses you have already applied;
• what evidence you have collected;
• what is becoming clearer;
• where you still have doubts;
• what tensions or strategic issues are beginning to emerge.

On Friday, we will then move to the topic of strategy.

ancora buongiorno. Come anticipato, le presentazioni dei lavori di gruppo sul Problem Solving si svolgeranno il 21 Maggio 2026, ore 14-17.

Questa la sintesi su format e timing delle presentazioni:

1) In termini di timing, ogni gruppo avrà a disposizione 10 minuti per la presentazione, più 5 minuti, da parte mia, per domande e riflessioni;

2) Le presentazioni verranno caricate sul mio pc direttamente il giorno della presentazione; non è necessario inviarmele anticipatamente; la sequenza delle presentazioni verrà decisa ad estrazione direttamente quel giorno;

3) I formati utilizzabili per le presentazioni potranno essere solo PPT o PDF;

4) La scelta di quante voci utilizzare per la presentazione è a discrezione dei gruppi;

5) per quanto riguarda il contenuto, come sempre anticipato, non c'è un numero minimo o massimo di slides da preparare. Ma nel contenuto delle presentazioni dovranno essere chiaramente individuabili: 1) l'ambito problematico; 2) la fase di analisi, soprattutto con rappresentazione della SWOT di sintesi; 3) la conclusione del ciclo di risoluzione del problema, con associata indicazione della decisione da prendere; 4) una slide che indichi le fonti utilizzate per il lavoro.

I would like to remind you that this course is based on active participation, continuous engagement, and collaborative project work.

The group project is not simply a way to reduce the workload of the final assessment. It is an essential part of the learning process. The course is designed around in-class activities, group discussions, progressive project development, peer feedback, and shared reflection. For this reason, students who work in groups are expected to be active participants in the course.

I have noticed that some students attended only one or two classes, joined a group, and then stopped participating. This does not apply to students who have already informed me about their absence for justified personal reasons.

Please note that students who miss more than three classes will normally not be considered attending students. In exceptional and justified cases, a maximum of four absences may be accepted.

Students who cannot be considered attending will take the exam as non-attending students. This means that the exam will be based on: the book; the course materials; an individual assignment.

Students who do not participate regularly and do not contribute to the development of the group project will be removed from the groups.

The aim is to ensure fairness towards the students who are attending, collaborating, and actively contributing to the course activities.

Please find below a reminder on the rules for the Political Economics and Public Economics Exam (midterm and Summer sessions).

Political Economics
Students can take the Political Economics part either at the midterm in April or in the June 23rd session. If a student has taken the April 10th exam and sits for the exam on June 23rd, her midterm grade is automatically discarded.

Public Economics
Students can take the Public Economics part either at the midterm on May 29thor in the June 23rd session. If a student has taken the May 29th exam and sits for the exam on June 23rd, her midterm grade is automatically discarded.

The final exam is a three-hour written test comprising six questions (three questions for each module, one hour and a half per module).
Each question may offer a choice of subquestions. To pass the exam, students must achieve a passing grade (an average score of at least 18) in both modules. The final exam grade is calculated as the average of the grades for the two modules. Each question is graded on a scale from 0 to 34, making it possible to achieve a final mark of 30 without answering all questions perfectly.
At the end of each module, students attending the course may volunteer to give a presentation. Presentations are graded on a scale from 0 to +3, and the score is added to the grade of the first exam session (or midterm) immediately following the course, provided the student attend all other students presentations. The total is rounded to the nearest integer to determine the final mark. Withdrawals from scheduled presentations incur a penalty of -1. Presentations can be given only once and cannot be repeated in subsequent years.

good morning.

The Accenture team has reviewed all the works received and has found all of them interesting and well executed.

Based on a combined mix between contents’ quality, clarity and data visualization, the Accenture team thus invites ALL THE GROUPS to further deliver, as anticipated, a quick presentation on April, 28th, 9am in the classroom:

On this premise, please read carefully the following rules:

1) The order of the presentations will be decided on a random basis during the presentation day;

2) Each group will have total freedom to decide how many group members will speak;

3) For organizational reasons each group will have no more than 10 minutes to present. Each presentation will be then followed by a quick Questions & Answers session with the Accenture team.

4) All the groups will already find the presentations uploaded on the same laptop usually used in the classroom.

Important, to acknowledge the interesting work done by all the groups who have sent their presentation to the Accenture team, during the presentation day all the group members will receive a certificate of attendance to the Challenge.

Dear students,

I hope all is well with your lives and your Global Governance!

We graded your Midterm exam, the grades follow.

We studied the different situations the students are in, with regard to attendance and exams done.

We have started the evaluation process of your Stratex projects, which have raised much interest and before the end of the course I will come to tell you about it.

Tomorrow is the due date for your Final Work, and we will start the evaluation of your 139 products. We will also see into class participation upgrades, through Slido interactions and recorded contributions.

Our course has a complex evaluation system, designed to promote specific educational threads, including but well beyond assessment of knowledge. It is nevertheless a lot of work, and it takes time.

The next exam session will be 8-12 of June, remember enrolling on Delphi for the exam!

Now, six weeks before the time, here is some specific information for the different categories of students, beyond what is included in the Syllabus and in previous mails and in the Exam section on DIDA, which explain what to study and how the non-attending students must do all course exams and a special one.  

IN THE NEXT EXAM SESSION, STUDENTS WHO ARE:

• ATTENDING, with Midterm, Final Work, and Stratex accomplished: your grade will just be recorded on Delphi right after the exam session. Nothing to do.
• NOT ATTENDING, with all above accomplishments and grades: you will take a complementary multiple-choice test on Classmarker. About 30 new questions, same instructions as for the Midterm. Then, your grade will be recorded on Delphi.
• NOT ATTENDING, with missing Midterm and/or Final Work, but WITH a Stratex grade: you must deliver the Final Work asap, do the Midterm AND the complementary 30 question test.
• NOT ATTENDING, with missing Midterm and/or Final Work, and WITHOUT a Stratex grade: you must deliver the Final Work asap, do the Midterm AND the complementary 30 question test, AND a hand-written exam focusing on the main educational objectives of the Stratex, all in the next exam session.

I hope all is clear. If you have questions you cannot answer (after trying, though), write to your great representatives or to me.

Last thing, it is really great to work on your Stratex projects, and I am looking forward to share some insights with you all.
